It's SPRING!!!!  Even though it's snowed every day this week, it's now April and time for spring activities like gardening.  Since I tend to kill every plant I touch, I bought this garden clip art pack to create some themed learning printables instead.  I have lots of fun plans for the whole month, covering many different subjects. It's December, which means it's time for Christmas cookie baking!  It's also a great time for some adorable, Christmas math work!  Continuing my cookie theme for yesterday, I've got some fun cookie math activities for you.  Like many of my other themed math printables, these little counters should fit in an Altoid tin for easy transport to Grandmother's house or anywhere else your travels take you. The PDF includes Christmas cookie counters in three styles- trees, gingerbread men, and snowmen.  Kids can use the included numbers to build a number line and place the correct number of counters under each number.  If the child is expected to add counters for the numbers 1-5, they'll need 15 items.  If they're doing 1-10, they'll need 55 counters.  Be sure to give kids the correct number, so they can figure out how many go under each number without any extras. My kids really enjoy salt writing trays for practicing their letters.  The salt provides a very interesting texture for their fingers, and is easy to "erase" if they make a mistake.  Just shake the tray and move on with life.  Salt trays are especially helpful with special needs kids as the extra texture helps to solidify the letter shape in their brains. It's the second week of watermelon fun and learning here at Homeschooling My Kinetic Kids!  We're counting down to National Watermelon Day on August 3rd!  Earlier this summer, I introduced a watermelon life cycle, letter disks for spelling, fraction play food, and more!  Click HERE to see the watermelon learning landing page. Earlier this spring, after I did my frog theme week , I realized that I hadn't done any math activities.  Since math in an Altoid tin is sort of my thing, I knew I had to fix that oversight.  This one is a bit more simplified than that ones I've been making lately, but it's great for preschoolers and kindergartners who are still working on their number sense to ten. The PDF comes with a 10-frame for organizing the counters while counting, number cards up to 20, and lots of cartoon flies.  If the cartoon flies aren't your style, plastic flies can be bought to add some extra fun and grossness to the math activity.  The flies and number cards fit in an Altoid tin, and a printable label for the tin is also included in the PDF.
